Surrogacy.. a bit like torrenting movies – Elias Draybi

Surrogacy, refers to a woman who bears a child on behalf of another woman, either from her own egg fertilised by the other woman’s partner, or from the implantation in her uterus of a fertilised egg from the other woman. But isn’t that like cheating? isn’t that being greedy?

The title of this blog, ‘Surrogacy.. a bit like torrenting movies’ means this; When people download movies illegally it’s usually because they can’t afford to buy a movie or have restrictions accessing movies legally, a bit like surrogacy. Women who can’t have baby’s usually feel left out when visiting friends and family, sometimes to the extent of taking up surrogacy. Just like when we stop at nothing to get our hands on a movie, women tend to ignore God’s plan for their life and “download” a baby through surrogacy.

Myself being a male, makes it difficult for me to write a blog about women being selfish by taking up surrogacy, how? Well from a woman’s perspective they would feel left out, seeing all of their friends having kids and missing out on being called ‘mum’.

The Catholic Church opposes surrogacy as it teaches its followers that God has other plans for them. But if you have strong faith in God and you have been sealed to your spouse in the temple, you can have posterity in the next life. I know that sounds impossible, but it is the truth.

Many women now a day have lost faith in God and have taken matters into their own hands by genetically engineering their own ‘designer baby’ which is also opposed by the church. While many people think that surrogacy wouldn’t disrupt anything of catholic sort, it is because they see no harm in a family that are happy to have a child that they could never produce, a child that will address his/her parents by mum and dad. But it actually infringes the child’s right to be born of a father and mother known to him/her and bound to each other by marriage.

Although the Catholic Church opposes surrogacy, its becomes a dispute as to why Abraham and Sarai used a surrogate mother to give them a child…
And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. – Genesis 16:13

The video below May question us Catholics wether we personally think surrogacy is that bad

The silent rights of an unborn fetus – Elias Draybi

Abortion, the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy by the act of removing the embryo or fetus.

Yes we’ve all seen women fighting for the right to abort by exclaiming “it’s my body. I do what I want” but this statement is in fact completely wrong. Women have rights toward their own body, correct, but what about the other body, the one that belongs to God?  When its time for that baby to leave earth, that becomes God’s call, not the call of seventy thousand women each and every year.

“As for the son you will conceive and bear, no razor shall touch his head, for this boy is to be consecrated to God from the womb” – Judges 13:5

How do people have the heart to murder a poor child because it meets their satisfaction? Why is it illegal to kill 298 innocent people in an airplane explosion but completely legal to abort an innocent child in not one, but one hundred and ninety-one countries around the world. It’s not ok to kill a human by bullet but killing an unborn human is fine? Pathetic. Women don’t realise how their choices can affect the people around them, Imagine Obama’s’ mother, at no stage in her pregnancy days did she know that her son was going to become the first ever African american president of the United States. What if she had aborted him?

The Catholic Church opposes from all types and forms of abortion that are intended to end a baby’s life. Although, there is one form of abortion the church allows, that is if the mothers life and the babies lives are at state and only one gets to live.

The Church considers the destruction of any embryo to be equivalent to abortion, and thus opposes embryonic stem cell research.

‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends’ – John 15:13 Ey9GQ_

For anybody who has aborted a child and know that what they have done is wrong the Catholic Church still welcomes you with open arms and assure forgiveness.

Pope John Paul ll wrote: “I would now like to say a special word to women who have had an abortion. The Church is aware of the many factors which may have influenced your decision, and she does not doubt that in many cases it was a painful and even shattering decision. The wound in your heart may not yet have healed. Certainly what happened was and remains terribly wrong. But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope. Try rather to understand what happened and face it honestly. If you have not already done so, give yourselves over with humility and trust to repentance. The Father of mercies is ready to give you his forgiveness and his peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation“.

“The word of the Lord came to me thus: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you” (Jeremiah 1:4-5)

At the end of the day whether a person is big, small, fat, pretty, Muslim, Catholic, Australian or American we are all humans and we all have equal rights! Please stop aborting and give that little guy a chance at life.

Are we manipulating God’s power? – Elias Draybi

Genetic Engineering, the deliberate modification of the characteristics of an organism by manipulating its genetic material. Also known as making the impossible; possible. Imagine a world where diabetes, cancers and bad diseases are all non-existent, yes that does sound great, but that also means were taking away the features and the unique things about ourselves and forming them into something that we feel would make us happier. But does God want this? I mean he made us all as individuals and in the image of himself, why on earth would we want to alter that?

Genetic engineering is an extremely controversial issue itself without even considering the view of its reverence for life. I agree that it may provide more fruits in our fields and bigger animals but the dangers involved with Genetic Engineering may result in the death of hundreds, possibly millions of people. Not only that but is it fair that we ‘play God’ by altering his earth, forgetting about all that he did for us. “Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked?” – Ecclesiastes 7:13

There are many fears about Genetic Engineering itself, what tops it off is what is called a designer baby. Allowing parents to design what their child will look like and adjust their genes to make them smarter or faster or even muscular. What is humanity coming to?

Despite most negativity the Catholic church doesn’t despise Genetic Engineering completely. Surprised? Thats expected. In fact the Church teaches that it must be used respectively and mustn’t  abused  by humans. Basically scientists are allowed to mute diabetes and cure diseases that follow, but cloning humans and creating designer baby’s is unsupported.

In my personal opinion, I think genetic engineering will only bring harm upon humans, yes I agree it may have its benefits when it comes to curing diseases but then again Jesus planned our lives before we even entered the womb, so that means that Jesus himself would’ve given you that disease for a reason! Perhaps he is testing your strength or your time on earth is coming to an end, how would we know this if we let genetic engineering take over? Everything happens for a reason… we need to stop altering things because they don’t suit our requirements!

‘ But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.  Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another’ – 1 Corinthians 15:38-39
